Manuel Aires Mateus / Francisco Aires Mateus

Manuel Aires Mateus and Fancisco Aires Mateus collaborated with Gonçalo Byrne from 1983, and together from 1988. Currently they lead their own offices. Manuel Rocha De Aires Mateus was born in Lisbon, Portugal in 1963 and graduated from the Faculty of Architecture of the Technical University of Lisbon, Portugal in 1986. He taught at the Graduate School of Design, Harvard University, USA, in 2002 and 2005, and teaches at the Academy of Architecture, Mendrisio, Switzerland since 2001. Francisco Xavier De Aires Mateus was born in Lisbon, Portugal in 1964 and graduated from the Faculty of Architecture of the Technical University of Lisbon, Portugal in 1987. He taught at the Graduate School of Design, Harvard University, USA, in 2005, and teaches at the Academy of Architecture, Mendrisio, Switzerland since 2001. Sines Cultural Centre was one of the seven finalist works for the Mies van der Rohe Award 2007.
