Ralph Erskine


1914 Born in 24 February in Mill Hill, London, to George (1871–1951) and Mildred, née Goff (1883–1967) Erskine. The son of a Scottish Presbyterian minister, George was employed in a shipping line; Mildred, the daughter of a director of the Thames Conservancy Board, was educated at Holloway College, London.

1932–1937 Studying architecture at Regent Street Polytechnic, London
1937 Membership of RIBA (Royal Institute of British Architects)
1937–1939 Employed by inter alia Louis de Soisson

1939 Travels to Sweden to Stockholm, finds employment as architect, marries Stockholm, Ruth Francis (born in 1914)
1942 Builds own house in Lissma, south of Stockholm, office in living room
1943 Daughter Jane born

1945 Moves to rented accommodation on Drottningholm. Daughter Karin born
