Preston Scott Cohen

Born in Asheville, North Carolina in 1961. Received the BFA and BArch from Rhode Island School of Design in 1983 and the MArch from Harvard University Graduate School of Design in 1985. Associate Professor of Architecture and Harvard GSD. He is an author of Contested Symmetries and Other Predicaments in Architecture (Princeton Architectural Press, 2001) and Permutations of Descriptive Geometry (forthcoming, 2002). Presently, he is a finalist in the second stage of an invited competition for the Museum of Art and Technology in New York. Received a Progressive Architecture Award in 1998 and in 2000. Major exhibitions include ÒFolds, Blobs and BoxesÓ at the Carnegie Museum of Art (2001), ÒThe Un-Private HouseÓ at the Museum of Modern Art, New York (1999), and The Venice Biennale International Exhibition (one of four representing the US in ÒEmerging VoicesÓ,1996).
