Behnisch & Partner


Günter Behnisch was born in Dresden in 1922. Studied in architecture at Technical University of Stuttgart from 1947 to 1951. Set up his own office in 1952. Established Behnisch & Partner in 1966. Professor for Design, Industrial Buildings and Planning, and Director of the Institute for Building Standardization at the Technical University, Darmstadt from 1967 until retiring from university dutries in 1987. Established city office Stuttgart (now Behnisch, Behnisch & Partner) in 1989. Professor of the International Academy of Architecture, Sofia in 1991. Awarded the Gold Medal of l’Académie d’Architecture, Paris and Honorary Award by the International Olympic Committee for Special Services in the Field of Sport and Architecture in 1992. Honorary Fellow of Royal Institute of British Architects, London in 1995. Wolfgang Hirsch Award, Chamber of Architects Rhineland Palatinate, Mainz.
