Douglas | Wallace Architects and Designers


Hugh Wallace founded Douglas Wallace in 1982 with Alan Douglas. Hugh is a member of the Royal Institute of the Architects of Ireland and President of the Institute of Designers in Ireland. Since starting the company Hugh and Alan have grown it to its current status of a leading architecture and design company. As managing Director, Hugh has overall responsibility for the strategic direction of the company. Gerry Hand graduated Dublin Institute of Technology. Moved to London in the mid-eighties where he formed a partnership and specialized in 5 star hotels and leisure resorts including the Sheraton’s Algarve and Lisbon, the Leisure Park Penha Longa, Sintra and various others on the Cote d’Azur, in Spain and Greece. Returned to Ireland with a young family in1996 and joined Douglas | Wallace with particular responsibility for conceptual design, feasibility studies and quality of design of all projects issuing from the office. Grainne Weber qualified from UCD in 1992 after taking the scenic route through college which bought her to work and travel extensively in Asia, the USA and Europe. Since qualification she has worked in Dublin, joined Douglas | Wallace in 1997 and has worked on a number of retail projects and the Morrison since then. Joe O’Neill graduated from Bolton Street College of Technology in 1995 with a diploma in architectural technology. Since then he has furthered his studies to include a Certificate in Managing Safety in Construction and a Diploma in Project Management. Since joining Douglas | Wallace from college Joe has worked on a variety of projects including Monsoon, an apartment development in Tralee, and a design manual for TOP Oil. Most recently he was site architect for the Morrison.
