Daniel Libeskind Born in postwar Poland in 1946, became an American citizen in 1965. Studied music in Israel and in New York. Received his professional architectural degree in 1970 at the Cooper Union in New York City and a postgraduate degree in History and Theory of Architecture in 1972 at the School of Comparative Studies at Essex University. Opened his architecture practice in Berlin in 1990 after winning the competition for the Jewish Museum. Has taught and lectured at many universities worldwide. Current projects include Extension to the Denver Art Museum (20022005), The Spiral: Extension to the Victoria and Albert Museum, London (20032006), Maurice Wohl Convention Center, Bar Ilan University, Tel Aviv (20012003), Jewish Museum San Francisco (20032005), Danish Jewish Museum, Copenhagen (20022003). Awarded the 5th Hiroshima Art Prize. A landmark exhibition of Daniel Libeskinds work was held in Hiroshima, Japan in 2002. www.daniel-libeskind.com |
