Jean Nouvel Born in Fumel, southwest France, in 1945. Studied architecture at the Ecole Nationale Superiére des Beaux-Arts in Paris from 1966 to 1971. In 1972, obtained diploma as architect. Since 1970, independent practice in cooperation with many architects. Won the Institute du Monde Arab competition in 1981. Received the Aga Khan Award in 1981. Honorary fellow, AIA in 1993. Honorary fellow RIBA in 1995. His current projects include Gasometers (mixed-use and residential project)/ Vienna, Museum of Human Evolution/ Burgos, Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina-Sofia/Madrid, Riverside court project/ Prague, Gutherie Theater/ Minneapolis and Concert Hall for the Danish Broadcasting Corporation/ Copenhagen. Received the Royal Gold Medal of the RIBA in 2001 and was awarded the 13th Premium Imperial in Architecture 2001. |
