Imelda Akmal
Born in Jakarta, Indonesia, 1969. Educated as an architect at Trisakti University,
Indonesia, she has focused on her career as an architecture writer. In 1993,
started working as an interior and garden editor at leading Indonesian lifestyle
magazine. Also worked as senior editor, art and living, at Harpers Bazaar Indonesia.
Went on to study interior design at the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology
University and received a Master Degree from Swinburne University, Melbourne
Australia. Has published 11 interior and architecture book since 1996. In 2003,
received an award from Gramedia Pustaka Utama, Indonesian biggest general publisher,
for her best selling and latest book, Indonesian Architecture Now written for
international readers. She actively contributes architecture reviews to local
and overseas magazines such as ISH Singapore and Houses Australia. Recently,
she was appointed chief editor of the publication of the Indonesian Architects
Institute (IAI).
