collection of individual houses in stifling proximity and in response to conditions of a site directly connected to a railway station, consideration was given to employing looseness of spaces modifiable for uses other than residential. For this purpose, the principal objective for this site was to find a spatial system that would allow great variety within a simple configuration.

The entire project is like a thin-skinned steamed bun with an oblong and open perimeter “skin”, containing a checker-boarded high-ceiling “filling”, resulting in a configuration of two different spatial types. Through the service core, these two spaces penetrate one another, and every unit connects to two varying types of exterior space - one with an open, panoramic view and the other, a secluded, peaceful courtyard - allowing them to acquire scenic variety.
